The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was opened in 1927 by Claude Reid with just two koalas, Jack & Jill, at a time when koalas were hunted for their fur. Claude quickly recognised that something needed to be done to protect this iconic species - and so Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was born. Today you can visit the sanctuary and explore at your own pace. The day pass includes access to various talks, feedings, and shows throughout the day. You can also purchase kangaroo food on-site and feed the kangaroos under the supervision of trained staff. The sanctuary is known for its educational and interactive experiences that cater to all ages, making it an ideal destination for families.
