Horizontal Falls Seaplane and Boat Adventure

Start your day early as you embark on an unforgettable full-day adventure to Horizontal Falls and the Dampier Peninsula. The experience begins with a breathtaking seaplane flight, offering panoramic views of the stunning Buccaneer Archipelago, before landing on the calm waters of Talbot Bay. Enjoy either a hearty hot breakfast or a locally sourced barramundi lunch, prepared by your expert hosts aboard the Horizontal Falls houseboat.
During the day, you’ll cruise through the incredible Horizontal Falls, followed by a refreshing swim in the marine viewing enclosure, where you can get up close to the local marine life. Next, visit the renowned third-generation Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm, where you’ll learn about its rich history and pearl farming traditions. Afterwards, explore the Beagle Bay Aboriginal Community, home to the iconic Mother of Pearl Church, a true cultural highlight.
Following a day filled with adventure and discovery, you’ll return to Broome, with the Horizontal Falls team ensuring a smooth transfer back to your accommodation.

Broome to Fitzroy Crossing via Derby & Tunnel Creek

Today, you’ll depart Broome and make your way to Derby. Take some time to explore the town and visit the historic Boab Prison Tree before joining the iconic Gibb River Road.
Next, stop at a local art gallery before heading to Dimalurru (Tunnel Creek), where water has carved an impressive 750-meter-long tunnel through the limestone Napier Ranges. Rising up to 20 meters in height, this natural wonder was formed 350 million years ago as part of an ancient ocean reef system.
Later in the day, you’ll continue to Fitzroy Crossing, arriving in the late afternoon to check in at the Fitzroy River Lodge for a well-deserved rest.

Fitzroy Crossing to Purnululu National Park via Halls Creek

This morning, you'll depart Fitzroy Crossing and continue along the Great Northern Highway before you turn off the highway to Mt Pierre Station where you will veer onto a track that will lead to Mimbi Caves.
Your local guide will take you through this natural wonder which is part of the 350 Million-year-old Devonian Reef system. This amazing cave system will take your breath away with its vivid colours and limestone rock formations.
Listen to Dreamtime stories and learn about one of the most significant Devonian fossil sites in the world from the local Gooniyandi people. Enjoy freshly brewed tea and damper made the traditional way by your guides using native seeds.
Then, travel to Halls Creek for lunch. This afternoon, continue east and turnoff to the World Heritage Listed Purnululu National Park (the Bungle Bungles). Enjoy two nights at the Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge, owned by Outback Spirit in partnership with Aviair/Helispirit. The lodge features comfortable cabins with ensuite bathrooms.

Exploring Purnululu National Park (the Bungle Bungles)

Today, you’ll immerse yourself in the wonders of Purnululu National Park, renowned for its striking orange and black beehive-shaped domes. Begin with an unforgettable 18-minute scenic helicopter flight, offering a bird's-eye view of the park’s incredible natural features.
After the flight, enjoy a walk along Piccaninny Creek to the awe-inspiring Cathedral Gorge, a natural amphitheatre, and follow the Dome Trail for an up-close look at the park’s unique geological formations.
In the afternoon, you’ll venture to the northern area of the Bungle Bungles to explore the dramatic Echidna Chasm before returning to the lodge for the evening.

Purnululu National Park (the Bungle Bungles) to Kununurra via Wyndham

Today, you’ll bid farewell to the Bungle Bungles and head north to Wyndham. Take in the stunning views from the Five Rivers Lookout, where you’ll enjoy dramatic panoramas of the Cambridge Gulf. After a relaxing picnic lunch, you’ll continue on to Kununurra and check in to the centrally located Kununurra Country Club for your overnight stay. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure.

Explore Lake Argyle & Ord River before heading to El Questro

This morning, you’ll head to the banks of Lake Kununurra to embark on a spectacular three-hour cruise along the Ord River. Take in the stunning scenery and diverse wildlife as your skipper guides you upstream to Lake Argyle, providing expert commentary throughout the journey.
Upon reaching the dam wall, you’ll board the coach for the return trip to Kununurra, with a stop at the Argyle Homestead Museum along the way. Your day concludes at Emma Gorge Resort, nestled at the base of the magnificent Cockburn Range, where you’ll spend the next two nights in unique tented cabins.

Exploring El Questro

This morning, you’ll venture deeper into the heart of this iconic Kimberley wilderness to explore Chamberlain Gorge, a stunning three-kilometre freshwater oasis surrounded by towering escarpments. Enjoy a relaxing 90-minute gorge cruise, where you can feed the cheeky Archerfish before returning to Emma Gorge Resort via the station township.
After lunch, set off on a guided walk to the spectacular Emma Gorge waterfall (2.5 hours return – a good level of fitness is required, but the reward is well worth it). Take a refreshing swim in the large rock pool at the base of the falls and marvel at the breathtaking beauty of the gorge, considered one of the Kimberley’s finest.
Upon your return to the resort, the rest of the afternoon is yours to relax and unwind before regrouping for dinner.

El Questro to Drysdale via Zebedee Springs and Gibb River Road

There’s no better way to start your day than with a refreshing swim in the warm, crystal-clear waters of Zebedee Thermal Springs. Enjoy a relaxing morning soaking in this natural oasis before we continue our journey west along the iconic Gibb River Road.
Cross the mighty Pentecost River and pass Ellenbrae Station as we make our way to the ‘Y’ junction. From here, we follow the Kalumburu Road to Drysdale River Station, a working cattle station that runs 9,000 head of cattle across over a million acres.
Tonight, you’ll settle into comfortable station cabins with private ensuite bathrooms, ready for a restful evening in this remote outback setting.

Drysdale to Mitchell Plateau via King Edward River

This morning, you’ll continue north along the Kalumburu Road before turning onto the Mitchell Plateau track. After fording the King Edward River, you’ll visit a series of stunning Wanjina rock art galleries, regarded as some of the finest examples in the Kimberley.
Following a picnic lunch, travel through an ancient Livistona Palm forest before arriving at the Mitchell Plateau by mid-afternoon.
Your home for the next two nights is Outback Spirit’s Ngauwudu Safari Camp, the most luxurious and spacious accommodation on the Mitchell Plateau. Featuring deluxe safari suites with ensuite bathrooms, quality furnishings, and expansive balconies, the camp was built exclusively for Outback Spirit guests and offers the perfect base to explore this remarkable region.
This afternoon, unwind with a swim in the camp’s private palm-fringed waterhole or simply relax on your balcony. As the day winds down, enjoy a drink around the campfire at sunset before retreating to the on-site restaurant for a delicious dinner.

Exploring Punamii-Uunpuu (Mitchell Falls)

A big walk today, but also a big highlight! After a short drive to the ranger station, you'll set off on a guided 4km walking tour to the incredible Mitchell Falls (good level of fitness and mobility required). Along the way, you'll discover rarely seen Gwion and Wanjina rock art galleries, accompanied by a local expert guide from Kandiwal Community. The walk also takes you past Mertens Falls before arriving at the top of the Mitchell Falls, one of the most awe-inspiring wonders of the Kimberley.
After a picnic lunch and enough time to admire the falls, you'll take to the skies for a spectacular helicopter flight (included) back to where the walk started. Viewing the falls and surrounding landscape from the air is an absolute highlight, and a great way to finish off the experience. Once you're on the ground at the ranger station, return to the camp for a well-earned rest and perhaps a swim in the palm fringed creek.

Depart Punamii-Uunpuu (Mitchell Falls) and enjoy a scenic flight to Faraway Bay

This morning, you will head to the Mitchell Plateau airstrip for a scenic flight over the Kimberley coast to Faraway Bay. The aircraft for the morning is Outback Spirit's state-of-the-art Cessna Grand Caravan, featuring a high wing for excellent visibility, air-conditioning and turbine reliability. Viewing the Kimberley coast from the air is a highlight, and this morning’s flight will take you over Admiralty Gulf and Vansittart Bay. Afterwards, land at Faraway Bay, the northernmost lodge in Western Australia. Spend the next two nights in rustic yet comfortable cabins featuring ensuite bathrooms and stunning views of the bay.
Faraway Bay is an award-winning coastal lodge nestled on a rocky hilltop overlooking the turquoise Timor Sea. Located 280 kilometres north-west of Kununurra, this far north area of Western Australia is a remote and spellbinding part of the Kimberley. With King George Falls just a short boat trip away, this unique wilderness retreat offers an experience you will never forget.

King George Falls Marine Adventure

It’s now time for one of the major highlights of your adventure: King George Falls. After waking up to birdsong and breakfast made with produce from the Ord River region, you’ll head off with the lodge's expert skipper and guides for an unforgettable marine adventure.
The King George River is one of WA’s most magnificent treasures, famous for its enormous twin waterfalls that stand over 70m high and descend into the Timor Sea. From a cultural point of view, the river is highly significant to the Balanggarra people. To them the Falls are the male and female Wunkurr (Rainbow Serpents).
Along the coast to the King George River, you will travel past Koolama Bay where the merchant vessel ‘Koolama’ was bombed by the Japanese during World War II. Hear about the amazing story of survival and mutiny and the untimely and unfortunate end to the ‘Koolama’.
When you get to the entrance of the King George River, you can’t help but feel dwarfed by the towering red rocky cliffs rising high above us. From here, you’ll meander up river to the incredible Falls, and if conditions permit you’ll be able to take an invigorating waterfall shower as the boat edges to within metres of the rock face. After some time to soak up the spellbinding Falls, you’ll start heading back to the lodge. Enjoy some fishing on the way and keep an eye out for other marine life including crocodiles, dolphins, dugong and manta rays to name just a few.

Today, you will farewell the Kimberley and board the Outback Spirit aircraft for a scenic flight to Darwin. See King George Falls from the air before heading east to Joseph Bonaparte Gulf. From here, you'll hug the coastline to Darwin, arriving early in the afternoon. You will then check in to the Hilton Garden Inn Darwin, where the rest of the afternoon can be spent at your leisure. Tonight, enjoy the final dinner together and celebrate your Kimberley adventure.

Today marks the conclusion of your tour.
