Spend two days exploring the sunny city of Perth and the pristine Rottnest Island, home to a protected population of the famous quokkas. On Sunday you will board the Indian Pacific mid-morning to begin your exciting journey to Adelaide. Settle into your cabin and head to the restaurant carriage for lunch as you watch the filmstrip of breathtaking scenery flitter by. In the late evening you will arrive at Kalgoorlie to explore the world's largest open cut mine, and watch a performance telling of the region's gold rush history. The following day, wake to an incredible desert sunrise on the Nullarbor Plains and explore the abandoned pioneering town of Cook. The next morning you will arrive in Adelaide and have the whole day to explore at your leisure, and perhaps enjoy a private dining experience at the National Wine Centre of Australia. Venture out of the city into the Adelaide Hills and soak up the atmosphere of the historic German village, Hahndorf. If you would like to spend more time discovering the beautiful surrounds of Adelaide, talk to your sales consultant about experiences in the Barossa Valley or Kangaroo Island.

The Indian Pacific Rail, Coast & Vines Tour - Day 1
Private transfer Perth Airport to your accommodation

On arrival, you will be met by a private driver outside customs exit and delivered to your Perth accommodation.

Perth

Perth sits on the west coast and is Australia’s sunniest capital city. Soak up the sunshine at one of the white sand beaches, take a walk in leafy Kings Park - one of the world’s largest inner-city parks, or visit nearby Rottnest Island to meet the resident quokkas. For a more cultural experience head to the museum and gallery precinct, or go a little further afield to Swan Valley to experience its vineyards, art, food and history.

Perth and Kings Park Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour

Jump on the board and see all the best sights of Perth & Kings Park on top of an iconic open-top double-decker bus. You can use the hop-on hop-off option to take a closer look at the sights if you wish, or just stay on board for a complete 2-hour sightseeing circuit. Discover Rottnest Tour with Rottnest Express - Includes Lunch

See the whole of Rottnest in a day with a return ferry trip combined with a full-island bus tour. The 90-minute tour visits the island’s most spectacular locations, with insightful commentary shining a light on "Rotto’s" unique flora, fauna, history, and culture. The bus stops at two key vantage points – Wadjemup Lighthouse and the rugged West End, where passengers can hop off, take a short walk, and soak up the views. You might even meet a quokka or two along the way.

Rottnest Island

Rottnest Island is situated 19 kilometers off the coast of Perth. Getting to the island is easy as ferries depart regularly from Perth’s Barrack Street Jetty, Fremantle, and Hillarys Boat Harbour - or you can get there by air with a seaplane, air taxi, or helicopter.
Rottnest Island offers visitors a casual atmosphere, picturesque scenery, and a rich cultural heritage to discover, find out why the local Noongar people called the island Wadjemup which means ‘place across the water where the spirits are’. 
Cycling is the best way to get around the island or there’s a hop-on/hop-off bus service that regularly runs around the island, stopping at some of the more secluded beaches and surf breaks.
With 63 of the prettiest beaches you’re likely to see anywhere, 20 beautiful bays, and many coral reefs and wrecks, Rottnest Island is a marine paradise. You can spend your days exploring some of the most spectacular swimming spots, diving, and surfing breaks in the world, and a must-do is exploring the snorkel trails, with over 135 species of tropical fish and 25 species of coral to discover.
There’s plenty to experience out of the water too, from meeting the world-famous Quokka to exploring the excellent bike and walking trails that traverse the island. You can also discover the island’s military history, as you explore underground tunnels, the lighthouse, Oliver Hill, and Bickley Battery. There are tours on the island which include a tour by bike, boat, or Segway, offering insightful experiences, from wildlife encounters to learning about Aboriginal heritage.

The Indian Pacific Gold Service - Perth to Adelaide

Experience timeless travel on this epic 3 day, 2 night journey between two great cities, traversing half way across the bronzed lands of the continent in comfort and style. Soak up the tremendous beauty of The Nullarbor and the rolling slideshow of arid desert plains, rugged mountains and world-renowned wine regions, with awe-inspiring off train experiences along the way.
Be immersed in the spectacular interior landscape of Australia, by which there's no better way than the romance of rail.

The Indian Pacific Day 1

Depart Perth mid-morning and begin your journey from the Indian Ocean across the desert. After settling in to your cabin, enjoy your all-inclusive lunch on board and take in the spectacular scenery of the Avon Valley. The green rolling hills begin to give way to the harsher, but every bit as beautiful, desert plains. After lunch, spend the afternoon exploring the carriages and getting to know your fellow travellers. This evening, you will indulge in a 3 course dinner in the dining carriage before arriving late evening in Kalgoorlie, Australia's largest outback city. Here you'll enjoy a short play at Hannan's North Tourist Mine. Paddy Hannan's discovery in 1893 instigated one of the biggest gold rushes in Australian History, and this play tells the story of its beginnings and tales of The Golden Mile. After the performance, you will visit the Super Pit - the world's largest single open-cut mine. For a special photo opportunity, climb up on to one of the giant dump trucks! Return to the Indian Pacific for your journey onwards through the night.
Please Note: This is a late evening experience, commencing at 9pm and arriving back to the Indian Pacific at approximately 12am.

The Indian Pacific Day 2

Awake this morning to sunrise over the breathtaking expanse of the Nullarbor Plain - the world's longest straight stretch of straight railway track. Enjoy morning refreshments at Rawlinna, which borders the largest sheep station in the southern hemisphere, home to up to 80,000 sheep over 2.5 million acres. Further along the track the ghost town of Cook awaits. Once a Nullarbor railway community important in the establishment of Australia's interior landscape, today the town of Cook is home to lonely buildings and a population you can count on one hand. Step off the train and wander the remote town for an eerily quiet and unique glimpse of pioneering Australia. Continue your journey on board and enjoy another mouth-watering dinner before spending the remainder of the evening at your leisure, socialising in the lounge or embracing some quiet time in your cabin.

The Indian Pacific Day 3

Wake up early this morning as you travel past the many outback lakes near the remote towns of Tarcoola and Pimba, and watch as the landscape changes as you pass through the small coastal city of Port Augusta. Farewell the sunburnt outback as the sun rises and welcome the farming plains and rolling countryside before arriving in the beautiful city of Adelaide at 07:45. This morning you will be served a light snack of fruits and pastries. Alighting at the Adelaide Parklands Terminal located 3km from the city centre, it is a short drive to the heart of the Festival State.

Explore Adelaide

With a growing small-bar scene, world-class art and music, and a festival calendar to rival that of any other Australian city, Adelaide is a destination worth discovering. Take time to explore its vibrant laneways, visit the iconic Adelaide Central Market, and go shopping in Rundle Mall. Slow things down and relax at the Botanic Gardens, jump on the iconic Popeye Cruise along the River Torrens, or take the tram out to Glenelg to explore the popular metropolitan beach, dine in one of the many foreshore restaurants, or even enjoy the beach cabanas in summer months.
Adelaide is also lucky enough to be surrounded by some of Australia's most famous wine regions, and a stop into one of the wineries or the National Wine Centre is highly recommended. A 30-minute drive east into the hills will take you to Hahndorf, the oldest surviving German settlement in Australia, home to incredible food, strawberry fields and streets lined with artisan stores. On the way to Hahndorf, stop in at the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens and the Mt Lofty Summit for a coffee with a view. You may wish to return via Belair and stop at the iconic Windy Point Lookout on your way for even more phenomenal views over the city and beyond, especially at sunset.

Ultimate Adelaide and Hahndorf Tour with Adelaide Sightseeing

Experience the best of Adelaide and Hahndorf in this ultimate sightseeing tour around the CBD and Adelaide Hills. Board your coach and get introduced to Adelaide by driving past the city's cultural precinct, including the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and Botanic Park, home to the Bicentennial Conservatory and Adelaide Zoo. You will also stop at the National Wine Centre of Australia and have time to explore the Wine Discovery Journey Museum. In North Adelaide, you will see tree-lined streets, mansions and historic buildings, including a visit to the iconic St Peters Cathedral or Adelaide Oval Precinct. After lunch, drive to Adelaide's highest peak, Mount Lofty and wind your way through the Adelaide Hills before arriving at Australia's oldest German settlement, Hahndorf.
