The Indian Pacific, Perth to Sydney - Day 2
Kalgoorlie and Cook

Wake up to a breathtaking sunrise over Australia’s largest outback town, Kalgoorlie. This morning, step back into the gold rush era and uncover the fascinating history sparked by Paddy Hannan’s 1893 discovery, one of the most significant in Australian history. Visit the impressive Super Pit mine, a modern-day marvel that stands as a testament to the town’s golden legacy. Reboard the train later in the morning for a delightful brunch, then unwind for the rest of the day at your leisure. Relax and enjoy the exceptional hospitality as you gaze out at the vast, seemingly endless Nullarbor Plain. As the train crosses borders and time zones, entering South Australia before dinner, the journey continues. Later in the evening, the train stops in the near-deserted town of Cook, where you’ll enjoy a nightcap, a cozy bonfire, and a stargazing experience like no other.

The Indian Pacific, Perth to Sydney - Day 3
Barossa Valley

Spend the morning travelling through the pastoral lands and communities of remote South Australia as the Indian Pacific cruises past the Flinders Rangers, Spencer Gulf and the Adelaide Plains. Breakfast and lunch are both served on board. Mid-afternoon, the train pulls into Two Wells, where you’ll disembark and transfer in comfortable coaches for a short ride to the world-renowned, wineproducing region of the Barossa Valley. You’ll spend the evening at Seppeltsfield Winery, delighting in a signature dining experience in the vintage cellar. A traditional ‘Firing of the Barrel’ display is part of the evening,  as well as a food and wine pairing curated by Executive Chef Owen Andrews, highlighting regional produce and traditional methods  that reflect the story of the Barossa. Here, Platinum guests are  also treated to a special 100-year-old wine tasting experience. After dinner, you’ll return to the Indian Pacific, continuing your rail journey through the night.

Overnight, the Indian Pacific crosses into New South Wales, and you'll wake up in the historic town of Broken Hill. Start your day with a hearty breakfast, preparing for the adventures that await in the iconic Silver City. Choose from four unique Off Train Experiences, offering guided tours that delve into the rich history, art, and culture of Australia’s first heritage-listed city. After your morning explorations, return to the train for a relaxing lunch as you take in the ever-changing landscapes of regional New South Wales. In the evening, enjoy a final gourmet dinner on board, savoring every moment of your last night on this unforgettable rail journey through the heart of Australia.

The Indian Pacific - Off Train Experiences in Broken Hill

Step off The Indian Pacific and tailor your journey with these exciting off-train adventures at Kalgoorlie:

Silver City Highlights: Explore Broken Hill on this scenic outback tour. Visit the Living Desert State Park to see the famous Living Desert Sculptures, striking sandstone artworks set against a desert backdrop. Savor native teas and Wattleseed brew for a taste of local culture. Then, head to the Sulphide St Railway & Historical Museum for a guided tour on Broken Hill’s mining history and early railways. Conclude at the Line of Lode Miners Memorial, offering panoramic views and a tribute to the miners who shaped the town's legacy.

Paint Like a Pro: Visit the Pro Hart Gallery for a unique 'paint and sip' activity where you’ll create your own masterpiece in the artist's original studio. Don a miner's helmet and headlamp for an underground tour, walking the same tunnels as 1880s Cornish silver miners. Explore a replica miner’s hut to learn about their tough living conditions. Taste of the Outback: Learn about native bush tucker at Living Desert State Park with local chef Lee Cecchin, who will introduce you to local plants and their uses. The Indian Pacific, Perth to Sydney - Day 5
Arrive in Sydney

The Blue Mountains is known for its soaring sandstone ridges wrapped in native flora. This World Heritage-listed area marks your final stop before arriving in Sydney. Say goodbye to the Indian Pacific after breakfast, to travel deep into the mountains for this Off  Train Experience. Scenic World includes four phenomenal mountain experiences, from the Scenic Skyway, which takes you over ancient ravines, with 360-degree vistas to the Scenic Cableway that glides over the forest to the valley floor and the Scenic Railway, the steepest passenger railway in the world. Alternatively, stretch your legs on a guided walk with spectacular views from numerous lookouts along the trail. Both experiences end at Echo Point Lookout, perched on the edge of the escarpment in Katoomba, where a light lunch is served. Complete your journey on a chartered New South Wales rail service (fully hosted by your Indian Pacific crew) into Sydney Central Station. Alternatively, if you prefer to arrive in Sydney earlier, stay on board the Indian Pacific to travel directly to Sydney Central Station.

Journey through the Blue Mountains: The Blue Mountains, a World Heritage-listed area, offers stunning natural beauty with rugged cliffs, lush forests, and unique formations. After arrival, visit Scenic World for four unforgettable experiences. The Scenic Skyway glides above ancient ravines, offering 360-degree views of the Three Sisters, Jamison Valley, and Katoomba Falls. The Scenic Cableway takes you 500 metres down to the valley floor, where you’ll then ride the world’s steepest passenger railway.
