The Kimberley Discovery - Day 18
Jabiru to Darwin via Ubirr and Cahills Crossing

Just after turning onto the Arnhem Highway, if you haven't yet visited the rock art at Ubirr and Cahills Crossing but you have some spare time today, now is a great time to take a quick detour by turning onto Oenpelli Road. This 30 minute drive (one-way) will take you to a parking area right by Cahills Crossing over the East Alligator River. From the 3 viewing platforms you can sit and watch the saltwater crocodiles as they wait to catch mullet and barramundi swimming over the crossing in late dry season. A walk up to the Nadab lookout takes you past breathtaking rock art sites.
Once you are back on the road, head back towards Darwin, passing Mary River National Park. If you're feeling hungry after your morning's adventures, 15 minutes on from the Mary River Crossing you may wish to stop at the Corroboree Park Tavern, a popular outback roadhouse open until late for the weary traveller. From here it is only an hours further driving to arrive in the tropical, far north city of Darwin.
